Pets are soulmates, family members and best friends. The bond between person and pet is loving and pure and unique. When we have to say goodbye, the grief we experience is deeply legitimate. As author Glennon Doyle poignantly explains, "grief is the price we pay for love."
Celebrating and honoring the lives of our pets heals us just like memorializing humans. We receive the same closure, we depart with the same gratitude. Flowers are only one element of remembering your pet. Including flowers in your pet's memorial isn't silly, it isn't frivolous. It helps to mend the heartbreak.
